The Holly History
Holly Contracting & Design is named after David and Jane’s grandfather Forrest M. Holly who lived a life of dedication, determination and fortitude. Forrest lost his sight while attending his first year at University of California at San Luis Obispo. With the loss of his sight he was not able to complete his college courses and returned home to the family’s ranch in Ramona, California. He fell in love with a blind woman who would become his wife and the mother of their four children. Money was tight and life was tough for the new family, so Forrest began manufacturing adobe bricks from the native soils on the ranch.
This relationship between Forrest and his land sustained the family for several years. In time Forrest landed his first building project. A man came to Forrest looking to buy adobe bricks for a house, and Forrest convinced him that he could build it for him. He completed the project successfully and that launched his career in the building industry under the name Holly Construction Company. Forrest’s resulting successes in designing, building and customer satisfaction are a major inspiration and motivating factor for the founders of Holly Contracting and Design. Overcoming challenges is in our blood.
